Having watched the iTunes HD version more than a year ago, I thought I&#8217;d do a quick comparison against the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B00LU4URS0\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B00LU4URS0&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=notonbluray-20&amp;linkId=44XPOMY5RQPGEHCQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">new Mill Creek Blu-ray edition<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Going in &#8211; I&#8217;d assumed the Blu-ray would be from the exactly the same source but\u00a0there are some interesting differences between the two.<\/p>\n<p>In summary the differences:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Naturally, the Blu-ray is a much larger chunk of data at approximately 20GB compared with 4.7GB for the iTunes HD download<\/li>\n<li>The iTunes edition has noticeable compression artifacts<\/li>\n<li>There is slightly more image information on all four sides of the Blu-ray.<\/li>\n<li>The colors between the two are different and the vary on a scene by scene basis from being almost identical\u00a0to being very different. Neither appears obviously &#8216;orange-and-tealed&#8217;.<\/li>\n<li>The iTunes edition is more contrast-y and saturated, but loses detail in both the shadows and highlights<\/li>\n<li>The iTunes edition features edge enhancement that makes it look sharper, but adds halos to high contrast edges. There is far more real detail in the Blu-ray edition (seen by boosting the sharpness on your display device)<\/li>\n<li>There is slightly more dust and dirt on the iTunes edition, but not a huge amount<\/li>\n<li>The fade out at the end of the\u00a0credits is done differently &#8211; here the iTunes version has the edge (image fades, made in Pinewood Studios England holds for a moment then fades), but it&#8217;s a very minor detail.<\/li>\n<li>There is a 10 second difference in running time (2:00:51 vs 2:00:41) that is due to an additional Sony Pictures Television logo at the end of the Blu-ray<\/li>\n<li>Meta-data in the iTunes edition suggests it dates from 2001<\/li>\n<li>I suspect the Blu-ray transfer may be from 2008 (25th anniversary)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Krull &#8211; iTunes vs Blu-ray Screenshots<\/h2>\n<div id=\"attachment_1206\" style=\"width: 635px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/notonbluray.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/Krull-2-Blu-ray-1080p.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1206\" class=\"wp-image-1206 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/notonbluray.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/Krull-2-Blu-ray-1080p-1024x576.png\" alt=\"Krull, Blu-ray.
